Arrive Quebec City and check into your centrally located gay-friendly hotel accommodation where you will stay for the next 2, or 3 nights – you choose! Our hotel options can place you inside the Walled City or in the Lower Town, all excellent choices.
Exuberant, romantic Quebec City welcomes you…set in a beautiful natural background of Vieux-Quebec (Old Quebec) is small and dense, steeped in four centuries of history and French traditions. Because of the site’s immaculate preservation as the only fortified city remaining in North America, UNESCO has designated Vieux-Quebec a World Heritage Site.
Start your Quebecois experience with a night to remember – a Quebecois dining experience at Aux Anciens Canadiens. Housed in the historic Maison Jacquet, the oldest house in Quebec, dating back to 1675-76, the restaurant continues to be known internationally for its fine cuisine and warm Quebec hospitality.
On your first morning in Old Quebec embark on a fully-guided food walking tour; you will stop at 7 different venues, sip some wine and savour the aroma of a freshly baked baguette; with a tasting of gourmet Quebec cheeses. Follow the history through the food of the cultures that came through here, Amerindian, British and French among them.
After the tour make sure you take some time to explore Quartier Petit Champlain, it’s a MUST-SEE – At the bottom of Côte de la Montagne, escalier Casse-Cou (Breakneck Stairs, walk down them but not up!) and the funicular (elevator ride up), lies the Petit-Champlain district, a picture-perfect neighbourhood resembling a quaint riverside village with plenty of exclusive boutiques, restored houses now home to bistros, art galleries and specialized handicraft boutiques. Make sure to visit the Choco-Musee Erico where pleasure is not limited to the tasting of exquisite chocolate but it is in itself a true museum of chocolate and of course, Café-boulangerie Paillard inside the walled city; a delicious, mouthwatering, tasty ‘rendez-vous’ joining Europe and America with the best macarons in the world in a rainbow of colours (just for Rainbow High travelers? We think so…)
Be sure to stop in for your Rainbow Martini at Bar Le Drague! – A must have! Le Drague triples as a cabaret, a club and a trendy spot and has proudly welcomed an open-minded and diverse clientele for 30 years running. Multiple zones with distinct ambiances and activities have been set up; the cabaret zone offers shows featuring female impersonators (our famous Drag Queens!) who will wow you with singing, dancing, humor and variety.
Gastronomy is very important in Quebec City and your farewell dinner will truly be an experience – Panache, located in a maritime warehouse built in 1822 is the only maritime warehouse of its era remaining in the city and offers exceptional intimacy and stunning views of the bustling river.
Aurevoir Quebec, jusqu'à la prochaine fois! (until next time !)
